An update of iOS wouldn’t be complete without an update to iTunes and the Apple Store. Not only do they run faster than before, but multitasking is now supported. You can also, for example, now preview a song in iTunes and continue listening to it whilst switching pages or browsing other album tracks. Nifty!

Siri has been revamped on a huge scale. You now get cinema times and reviews, OpenTable reservations along with Yelp information. Although Siri is only compatible from 4S users and above, it’s clear that Siri is still not yet a one for the masses feature (sorry if you’re a iPhone 4 or 3G user and want Siri!).

The virtual card holder app carries your gift cards, discount vouchers, tickets and much more all in one place and can be set to appear in the notifications screen when you’re at the place and time to use/redeem them. Along with Do Not Disturb, iPad Clock, VIP email, FaceTime, Facebook integration, and a lot more besides, there’s a lot iOS 6 brings to the table. In this tutorial you will learn how to replace the screen and LCD assembly on the AT&T iPhone 4. This repair is a high level of difficulty and requires prior experience to be successful. For this repair you will need a philips head screwdriver, a flat head screwdriver, a plastic spudger tool, a sim card tray removal tool, and sometimes a 5 star screwdriver, depending on the two bottom screws on the iPhone.

Remove the sim card tray located on the side of the iPhone. Press the sim card removal tool into the small hole to get the sim card tray to slide out. The sim card tray should slide out.

Use the philips head or the 5 star screwdriver to remove the two screws on the bottom of the iPhone

Slide the back cover up and lift it out of the iPhone. This will give you access to the internal components.

Remove the screw holding the battery connection in place. Lift the connection out using the spudger tool. Once disconnected pry the iPhone battery out.

Remove the antenna connection cover and the antenna located next to the battery connection. It simply snaps off.

Remove two screws holding the metal plate covering the charging port flex cable. After removing the plate, use the plastic spudger tool and remove the connection of the motherboard.

The speakerphone is held in place by two screws. Remove them. The screw on the left also holds the motherboard in place.

Remove the white “water damage indicator” sticker and the screw underneath it.

Remove two screws holding the vibration module.

Remove five screws holding the metal cover over the motherboard connections.

After removing the metal cover from the board, snap the flex cables of using the spudger tool Be careful not to tear any of the flex cables.

Remove the camera from the motherboard.

Remove the last screw holding the motherboard in place. Use a flat head screwdriver to do this.

Lift the motherboard out of the iPhone. Take great care with the surrounding flex cables. Do not force anything if you feel resistance.

You will need to remove four more screws located in all four corners of the iPhone They hold the iPhone screen in place.

Step 16

There are six more screws on the sides of the phone. Loosen them but do not remove them. This makes it easier to re-assemble the iPhone. These screws make sure that the screen stays flush with the mid-frame.

Step 17

Pry the iPhone screen from the mid-frame and remove the two flex cables through the opening in the mid-frame.

Step 18

Save the grill mesh and the camera holder to replace on the iPhone. Reusing these parts saves a lot of time.

Step 19

Re-install the adhesives for the screen and reinstall the new iPhone 4 screen in place. Be careful sliding the digitizer and LCD flex cable throught the mid-frame.

Follow these instructions in reverse order to re-assemble the iPhone.

Think about this. Yes, it will be expensive (more than likely because it is Sony and it’s a new device) but when you have installed it you can safely take out other spare sound devices that you may have wanted to replace or you can add something like a Playstation III to the mix, if you have just received one, and you can use it anywhere on your home network.

It is quite an advance and shows just how far device integration has come. Pretty soon, all you’ll have to do is unpack the box, drop the player into the middle of the console, add a couple of adapter wires (the speakers may or may not be built in) and you have a complete system. Yes, it has taken time to figure out how to do it, but they have done it so that now if you are into Twitting from your iPhone or even iPad, you can keep in contact with your social networking, including YouTube video clips through one device and you can stream them where you’d like.
