Iphone Software Update Is Ios V6 Worth It

Whether you are looking to purchase the new iPhone 5 or simply update your old 4S, the question remains whether iOS 6 is going to be worth changing from iOS 5. With Apple boasting an impressive 200+ improvements to the operating system, it’s clear that bigger and better hardware was not the only thing on their mind when releasing the iPhone 5. Offering the software updates to all previous models post the iPhone 3, it’s clear that this production is one to take very seriously and Apple have clearly been putting their customers’ interests at heart. However, it’s not all rose petals in the Apple garden, and many device users will be struck with frustration over the lack of full integration with iOS 6 features depending on what platform they are using.

One of the the great improvements iOS 6 brings is the new Maps app. Gone are the designs from Google, and in are the ones from Apple with its own in-house styling crew. Available on Android for years, iOS users have up until now not had turn-by-turn navigation support on Maps for iOS. Well, they do now! Another newcomer is something Apple calls “Flyover”, giving users a 3-D bird’s eye view of any location using satellite imagery, zooming in and out at will for a true city experience.

However, the update doesn’t come without its downsides. Unlike the older Maps, you no longer get the new Map transit directions. You’ll have to download (and pay for the most part) transit route apps from the Apple App Store. And to date, nothing has been developed that is compatible with the new Maps format, so lose-lose situation. Duh! Also, still lagging behind Android, the new app also lacks anything remotely similar to Google’s Street View where one can see street-level photographs of specific places/landmarks. These go a long way in helping identify your exact intended destination or some random navigation end point not so desirable as is sometimes the case with route planning.

Besides Maps, iOS 6 brings communications with loved ones closer than ever. Users can share their photos with friends and family members via Apple’s servers. Those with newer iOS devices (phones, tablets or Macs) can see the shared photos in their respective Gallery app. If you’re not on iOS, you can still view shared content on a dedicated web page. So, unlike posting pictures on your favourite social networking site be it Facebook, or Flickr or other, there’s no need to filter those who can and can’t see it, you simply share directly with those who you want to view them.

An update of iOS wouldn’t be complete without an update to iTunes and the Apple Store. Not only do they run faster than before, but multitasking is now supported. Of course Android has allowed users to download an app and remain in the store to browse for something else to buy for years, but this is now possible on iOS. Thanks Apple. You can also, for example, now preview a song in iTunes and continue listening to it whilst switching pages or browsing other album tracks. Nifty!

Siri has been revamped on a huge scale. You now get cinema times and reviews, OpenTable reservations along with Yelp information. Coupled with app launching abilities and the option of posting updates to social networking accounts Facebook and Twitter, Siri is awesome. Although Siri is only compatible from 4S users and above, it’s clear that Siri is still not yet a one for the masses feature (sorry if you’re a iPhone 4 or 3G user and want Siri!).

One feature that is new and definitely worthwhile is Passbook. The virtual card holder app carries your gift cards, discount vouchers, tickets and much more all in one place and can be set to appear in the notifications screen when you’re at the place and time to use/redeem them. The scope for businesses to exploit its uses are limitless, with numerous companies wanting to take advantage of the system for advertising and marketing purposes, which, if done correctly wouldn’t be too bad of an idea if it means getting what’s rightfully yours because you left the Nectar Card at home, or left your Starbucks loyalty card in the office and you’re buying 20 lattes.

Along with Do Not Disturb, iPad Clock, VIP email, FaceTime, Facebook integration, and a lot more besides, there’s a lot iOS 6 brings to the table. Most simple of all updates, however, and yet one that’s notably welcomed, is the somewhat mundane improvements to basic call related options. Yes, we do use the phone for calling as well! On a incoming call, you can now reject a call using a user created message or choose from Apples default, as well as respond with an outgoing text or iMessage note, divert calls to voicemail or ask for a reminder. Wow, what a choice. It’s about time Apple thought a bit more carefully how users actually use their phones when trying to avoid certain calls without being rude.

Lastly, its fair to say that although some of the above features will not be available on 3G and 4 handsets, and original iPad and iPad 2 owners will suffer their fair share of update let-downs, if you’re an iPhone 4S user there’s only everything to gain from updating your software. Time will tell if iOS 6 isn’t right for you.

Iphone 4 Screen Repair Guide

In this tutorial you will learn how to replace the screen and LCD assembly on the AT&T iPhone 4. This repair is a high level of difficulty and requires prior experience to be successful. If you feel that this repair is not for you, iRepair Solutions offers a nationwide same-day iPhone repair service.

For this repair you will need a philips head screwdriver, a flat head screwdriver, a plastic spudger tool, a sim card tray removal tool, and sometimes a 5 star screwdriver, depending on the two bottom screws on the iPhone.

step 1

Remove the sim card tray located on the side of the iPhone. Press the sim card removal tool into the small hole to get the sim card tray to slide out. The sim card tray should slide out.

step 2

Use the philips head or the 5 star screwdriver to remove the two screws on the bottom of the iPhone

step 3

Slide the back cover up and lift it out of the iPhone. This will give you access to the internal components.

step 4

Remove the screw holding the battery connection in place. Lift the connection out using the spudger tool. Once disconnected pry the iPhone battery out.

step 5

Remove the antenna connection cover and the antenna located next to the battery connection. It simply snaps off.

step 6

Remove two screws holding the metal plate covering the charging port flex cable. After removing the plate, use the plastic spudger tool and remove the connection of the motherboard.

step 14

Lift the motherboard out of the iPhone. Take great care with the surrounding flex cables. Do not force anything if you feel resistance.

step 15

You will need to remove four more screws located in all four corners of the iPhone They hold the iPhone screen in place.

Step 16

There are six more screws on the sides of the phone. Loosen them but do not remove them. This makes it easier to re-assemble the iPhone. These screws make sure that the screen stays flush with the mid-frame.

Step 17

Pry the iPhone screen from the mid-frame and remove the two flex cables through the opening in the mid-frame.

Step 18

Save the grill mesh and the camera holder to replace on the iPhone. Reusing these parts saves a lot of time.

Step 19

Re-install the adhesives for the screen and reinstall the new iPhone 4 screen in place. Be careful sliding the digitizer and LCD flex cable throught the mid-frame.

Follow these instructions in reverse order to re-assemble the iPhone.

Sony Bdp-s590 3d Blu-ray Disc Player With Wi-fi

The Sony BDP-S590 3D Blu-ray Disc Player with Wi-Fi is a device that combines not only your basic 2D/3D blu-ray disc player into one device, but it is also WiFi-compatible with Standards 802.11 a/b/g/n. In other words, if you have any sort of high-definition video or audio device connected to your home network, the S590’s built-in WiFi connectivity will “announce itself” to your router and once they have finished their security negotiation (all WiFi devices must have as a minimum WPA/WPA2 or WEP encrypted security with regularly changed keys), everything is all set.

For example, Sony, this time around has decided not only must it admit that Apple products do exist (and vice versa), but it has also allowed Android-active devices to connect to your network through the S590. There’s a control app not only for iPods but also for iPhones and Android devices.

This means that not only can you simulcast, if you will allow an older phrase, your 2D and 3D movies and discs through your S590, if you have an iPhone with the Pandora app, you can stream Pandora audio through any portion or portions of your home system.

The key to this piece is Sony’s Multi-Room music sound streaming mode. It’s nice to be able to use your system-connected speakers in the basement with sound that is being streamed through your home system in the living room. It does make and keep things interesting at parties.

And, if you just want to use the standard blu-ray disc player of the S590 to send 1920 by 1080 (full high-definition) video to any part of your network, all you have do to is start the device you are playing and ensure that the S590 understands it. It will understand it since Sony was one of the original signers of the DLNA certification agreement. The DLNA certification means that any Digital Live Network Addressed device will automatically be recognized by any other DLNA device so there is no negotiation. Just wait until they sync up and you’re ready to go so that you can and will literally throw any sounds from a Sony (or Apple, to be fair) device through your home network to any other part.

If you have a PC connected somewhere in there you have even more expansion capability because the S590 comes with only two USB ports, however, if you have a PC included in your home entertainment system (or even a Playstation III, for that matter) you will pick up at least two or more USB ports through which you can connect either HDMI (high-def) cables or other devices, such as another HDTV receiver so you can share not only your video, but the audio capability of the S590.

Think about this. Yes, it will be expensive (more than likely because it is Sony and it’s a new device) but when you have installed it you can safely take out other spare sound devices that you may have wanted to replace or you can add something like a Playstation III to the mix, if you have just received one, and you can use it anywhere on your home network.

It is quite an advance and shows just how far device integration has come. Pretty soon, all you’ll have to do is unpack the box, drop the player into the middle of the console, add a couple of adapter wires (the speakers may or may not be built in) and you have a complete system. Yes, it has taken time to figure out how to do it, but they have done it so that now if you are into Twitting from your iPhone or even iPad, you can keep in contact with your social networking, including YouTube video clips through one device and you can stream them where you’d like.

Perhaps the nicest piece of this is the fact that if you just want to watch a 3D move on your HDTV in the game room while the rest of the system does other things the S590’s flexibility will oblige you, even allowing you to convert 2D to 3D video. It is quite an achievement but if you had to look for where it would originate you would have to expect Sony to do it and quite nicely in a device you can tuck anywhere as it’s only 2.9 by 19 by 11 and it only weighs about 4.4 pounds. There’s quite a lot of power packed into that nice-looking package as we have found out.

Samsung Mesmerize Vs Iphone 4 How Dose It Compare

The Samsung Mesmerize and the iPhone 4 are two of the lastest smart phones that are currently available on the market. The Samsung Mesmerize is a product from the phone and gadget giant Samsung, while the iPhone 4 hails from the wildly successful Apple corporation. Both of these smart phones have plenty to offer to discerning users, but each offers particular advantages and disadvantages in comparison to the other that you should keep in mind when deciding which of the two is the right smart phone for you. Along the way, you might also want to consider some of the many accessories available to protect your smart phone.

The most notable difference between the iPhone 4 and the Samsung Mesmerize is that while the iPhone 4 runs Apple’s proprietary operating system, the iPhone Operating System 4, the Samsung Mesmerize can run a variety of different operating systems, and ships with the latest rendition of Google’s efficient operating system for smart phones, Android 2.1. While Apple will claim their operating system is the most advanced you can buy, the near universal adoption of Google’s Android by nearly every other smart phone company on the market is a sign that Google might have the superior operating system of the two.

Besides the operating system, another crucial part of the Mesmerize to mention is the display. With more and more smart phones moving each year to fully dedicated touch screens, a screen that can do everything is moving from being a luxury to an essential. The iPhone comes with a 3.5 inch display and a 640 x 960 screen, while the Mesmerize comes with a 4 inch display and 480 x 800 resolution. The iPhone offers the greater resolution, while the Mesmerize offers the slightly larger screen.

With all this information, you might find it a little easier to make a decision between the Samsung Mesmerize and the iPhone 4. Although the iPhone 4 is the more popular smart phone of the two these days due to its bigger brand name and more time on the market, the Mesmerize is sure to be a competitive product in the coming months.
